History

Lincoln-Douglas Park was the site of speeches given during the Presidential Election of 1860. A boulder commemorates the spot where Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas spoke on different days in 1858. In 1975, the Village of Metamora purchased the grove area for the purpose of preserving this historic site and developed the Lincoln-Douglas Park.
